In this extension of Larry’s popular watercolor classes, students will learn to see in “abstract” value masses and then translate those masses into washes--veils of color--to create the illusion of light on form. Value relationships, color theory, the usefulness of a limited palette, as well as the essential skills to coax this free, liquid medium into behaving, somewhat, will be explored. Students will work exclusively from live models (both nude and clothed) under the beautiful north skylight of the Palette and Chisel’s large main studio. All this and a full demonstration will make for an informative and fun weekend.

Larry Paulsen studied life drawing under Bill Parks and Fred Berger at the American Academy of Art, Chicago. Larry studied painting with Ronald Sherr and Harvey Dinnerstein at the National Academy of Design, New York.
