This two-day workshop is designed for all levels. The first day will be still-life and the second day will be portrait. We will discuss materials students should use, from brushes to colors. The main focus of this workshop is to provide understanding of Value, Composition and Balance in a painting. The class will include alla prima demonstrations, lectures and individual instruction.

  • This workshop meets in our northlight studio on the 3rd floor.
  • There is a shared model fee payable to the instructor.

After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1997, he moved to Chicago in 2000. Hasmut’s vision is to capture the most magnificent moments in life. Through texture, color and light, he seeks to show the moving souls of his subjects. Ali has been an Oil Painters Of America and Portrait Society Of America member since 2010. He won the Gold Medal at the 2016 Palette & Chisel Gold Medal Show.
