Copying master paintings has long been considered one of the best ways to learn drawing and painting. Throughout history, this practice has helped artists to build their visual memory, gain insight about the painter's intention and understand the work within a historical context. Rubens, Degas, and others used copying to strengthen their artistic vision.
The class is also open to independent projects by students who wish to explore modes of art making that may be inspired by themes or styles of their favorite painters.
This class is limited to 9 students. Open to all levels.
