In 1908 Gustave Baumann (1881-1971) joined the Palette & Chisel.  Two summers later Baumann joined other P&C members on their summer trip to the sketching grounds of Brown County, Indiana.  Baumann stayed there six years; he became an American master of the color woodblock print.  This lavishly illustrated talk will focus on Baumann and his years in Brown County.

Martin Krause is curator emeritus at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.  For forty years, Krause served as Curator of Prints, Drawings and Photographs. He has written more than a dozen books of art history and has specialized in the life and art of Gustave Baumann.
