Class #604: Still Life with Color Theory with Helen Oh

Class #604: Still Life with Color Theory with Helen Oh

Session |

All levels

4/20/2024-5/18/2024

2:00 PM-4:00 PM CDT on Sat

$250.00

Apply the secrets of color theory to paint media, and transform ordinary objects into still life paintings of magical realism!

In this online class, Helen Oh covers basic color theory and application, from Newton, to Goethe, to the Bauhaus. Working from the instructor's reference images, students consider how color schemes and practical application of color theory inform the composition and rendering process.
Weekly instructor demos supplement this class.

Topics include color mixing systems, adjusting warm and cool color temperatures, working with complementary schemes, and connecting color with structure and space.

How IT WORKS

Each week, students receive the instructor's reference images. Students then work on their own and email their projects to the instructor for review. Painting from the student's own setup is also acceptable.

On Saturdays at 2:00 PM, the class is invited over Zoom for a group critique & instructor's demo.

The main part of the instructor's demo and lecture are recorded and are available for downloading. For students who are absent, the recording of the instructor's critiques will be provided.

  • Zoom meetings at 2 PM on Saturdays (CST)

  • A supply list will be emailed to you when you register. Please contact the office at fineart1012@sbcglobal.net if you'd like to see a supply list in advance of registering.
