Class #178 - Sculpting from Life with Jim Hajicek

Create and improve your sculpting skills in this class designed for the beginner and intermediate levels. Learn to apply simple drawing skills to sculpting the figure in a casual environment. Instruction is given both on an individual basis as well as the whole group. This class will explore form, scale, gesture, proportion, anatomy, and other elements of observation in a 3-dimensional way. This class encourages experimentation and individual goals. Learn how mass and line influence each other, and how concepts can simplify the complexities of the human form. At the end of class, you will have the option to have your work fired and taken home.
- There is an $80 model and materials fee payable to the instructor. The fees are non-refundable.

James Hajicek graduated from the School of Representational Art and furthered his studies with Dan Gerhartz, David Leffel and Steven Assael. He has taught plein air painting, artistic anatomy, portrait and figure drawing. James has taught at the Highland Park Arts Center, Peninsula School of Art, and teaches popular drawing classes at the Palette and Chisel.
Some past and present memberships include Oil Painters of America, Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, Hoosier Salon, South Shore Art League and the Plein Air Painters of Chicago. He has participated in many regional and prestigious national plein air competitions, including the Plein Air Los Gatos (CA), Plein Air Estes Park (CO), and Plein Air Easton (MD).
