You are invited to attend a special talk about the P&C logbook and its conservation, by speakers Stuart Fullerton and Alison Hinderliter from the Newberry Library.

This will be an introduction to the P&C logbook - a scrapbook, diary and journal maintained by the members of the P&C from the 1890’s to the Second World War.  Learn about this amazing document of American art history and the project now underway to archive the logbook and preserve its contents for posterity.

  • The talk will take place at The Palette and Chisel Club located at 1012 North Dearborn Street in Chicago on Sunday, December 8 at 4 pm in our first-floor gallery. Wine & refreshments will be served.

Stuart Fullerton grew up in north central Wisconsin and studied ancient Greek and Latin at Harvard College. After a year studying archeology in Greece and Turkey, he returned to Harvard for law school. Today Stuart works and paints in Chicago. He is a long-time member of the Palette and Chisel Club and of the Plein Air Painters of Chicago. He has studied with such wonderful artists as Max Ranft, Scott Powers, Ralph Oberg, Skip Whitcomb, Clayton Beck and Romel de la Torre. Stuart has been accepted into juried shows such as the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition, Salon International, the American Impressionist Society National Show, the OPA Eastern Regional Exhibition, and the Bosque Art Classic. He has been invited to take part in the Door County Plein Air Festival and the Los Gatos Plein Air Gala.

Alison Hinderliter

Alison Hinderliter, Lloyd Lewis Curator of Modern Manuscripts and Archives at the Newberry Library, has been working in the archival field in Chicago for over 30 years. Having worked in the Special Collections Department at the Newberry since 2001, she now oversees manuscript collections related to Chicago history, the arts, journalism, literature, business history, genealogy, and many other topics. She is also an amateur pianist and occasionally plays recitals.
