Class #211: Portrait Drawing with Addison Xu
Session | Available
This 8-week Zoom class is for beginner students who want to learn a structural and form-based approach to drawing portraits. We will meet once a week and work from photos and masterworks and discuss how to set up a linear block-in and how to render the illusion of three-dimensional form. Through critiques and demonstrations, we will focus on understanding the structure and perspective of the head in space, mechanics of light and form, and proportions and likeness of the model. An optional assignment and supplementary material will be given weekly. Each session will be recorded.
- Pencils (Range of hardnesses from about HB-2B), white chalk, sandpaper and razor blade (for sharpening pencils), toned paper, kneaded eraser, drawing board
