#154: Figure Drawing with Practical Anatomy with Helen Oh

The course explores methods of capturing the essentials of rhythm, weight-bearing, and balance of the figure in line and tone. Recognition of anatomical 'landmarks’ provides the basis of forms that describe action, tension, and motion in the body—the essentials in constructing convincing and expressive form in drawing.
Each session begins with instructor's demo that covers parts of the skeletal or muscle system and their relationship to figure proportions. Live model poses throughout.
Open to all drawing media. Open to all levels.

Helen Oh is a visual artist. She studied painting at the School of Visual Arts, the National Academy of Design, and The Art Students League in New York. Helen teaches studio art courses at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and annual workshops at the New York Academy of Art.
Helen is a recipient of two Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grants, and a Julius Hallgarten Painting Prize from the National Academy Museum. She has exhibited at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, the Terra Museum of American Art, and the Butler Institute of American Arts. Collections include Columbia University and The Americas Society in NYC. Helen regularly contributes articles to the Tutorials section of the Artists Magazine.
