Class #880: Portrait & Figure Drawing with Arturo Aldama

Session | Available

The course will focus on drawing with perspective and finding likeness, beginning at a fundamental level and increasing in complexity as the student advances. The students' goals for this class is to gain confidence and understand their drawing.

There will be a demo at the start of the session to demonstrate the direction and techniques that will be used to accomplish our drawings. The class consists of three portrait sessions and three figure sessions - both sets will be the same pose. We will only be
using pencils to maintain focus and eliminate distractions brought by more complex mediums. With a good base of skill in drawing, paintings and even sculptures will improve!

  • $60 non-refundable model fee payable to the instructor.

  • This class meets in our second-floor studio.
  • Set of pencils (at least 2h, hb, 2b)

    Kneaded eraser

    Any type of drawing paper

    Regular paper for note taking

Arturo Aldama, raised in Chicago, started his artistic path in the arts program at Lane Tech High School. After graduating, he studied classical drawing and painting for three years at the School of Representational Art (SORA) through casts, figure models, and still lifes. Arturo was under the instruction of accomplished artists Bruno Surdo, Grigor Eftimov, and Michael Chelich. After the school's unfortunate early closure, Arturo found the Palette & Chisel to continue his artistic studies. Here, Arturo continues to hone his training from SORA to further polish his skills, knowledge, and other techniques of perspective, visualizing planes, and likeness.
