In Home Assistant (IHA)/Personal Care Assistant (PCA)
This course provides basic instruction on caregiving in the home. Participants receive information and skills training necessary to provide support to older adults requiring minimal to moderate assistance. Participants receive instruction on how to assist someone with basic activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, walking and meal preparation; how to provide companionship, engagement in conversation and activities and how to maintain a clean and safe environment. Successfully completion of this course requires a passing score of 80% or better on a written test and satisfactory performance of basic physical skills under the supervisor of a licensed nurse. This course satisfies the Rules and Regulations for Home Caregiver Training in Arkansas per the Arkansas Department of Health 2014 Arkansas code ANN.§20-77-2101.
