Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an eight-week program that introduces you to mindfulness practice in the form of sitting meditation, body awareness and mindful movement, modeled by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. This class also includes a 30-minute private interview with the instructor before the first class. Confirmation of enrollment in the class is based on completion of both the registration as well as the private interview.   • Workbook and Guided Meditations Audio Files (included in materials fee): After Orientation has taken place, the program coordinator will send an email with information on how to access the workbook and guided meditation audio files.

Proffitt, Nichole

Nichole Proffitt has been practicing and studying mindfulness/meditation since 2000, and has been teaching mindfulness in various capacities for ten years In addition to teaching MBSR at Osher/UCSF, she also teaches mindfulness based interventions in public and private schools, at addiction recovery centers and in youth service agencies. Nichole also offers mindfulness based consultation, program development and instruction at various institutions and organizations throughout the Bay Area, as well as one-on-one mindfulness instruction and coaching for adults. She has completed trainings in counseling and mindfulness based leadership development, and graduated from the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center/Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior as a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator.
