Launched by four architecture students in Dresden, Expressionism has come to be accepted as Germany’s major contribution to Modernism. This course will delineate its dramatic history, from youthful beginnings in 1905 through WWI and the social dislocations of the early Twenties, up to its brutal silencing by Hitler in 1933.
