Castanets (also known as castañuelas or palillos) are a handheld percussive instrument dating back to the Phoenicians in 1000 B.C. They highlight and accent the intricate rhythms of the many dances they accompany. This class will focus on learning and perfecting the technique for playing castanets to accompany Flamenco.  Students will build their finger dexterity, hand-eye coordination, expand their musical knowledge of complex rhythms and stimulate their brain with fun, challenging exercises.
