Using your own reference photos, learn how to make compelling backgrounds in chalk pastel or oil paintings.  Capture the atmospheric distance in landscapes; the complementary relationship between the backdrops and objects in still lifes, and the narrative or emotional impact in portraits.  The focus will be on establishing unity and harmony throughout your paintings.
