History and Theory of Flamenco (Part II) 1/7
Class | Registration opens 8/5/26 10:00 AM EDT
This class offers students an understanding of Flamenco that delves deeper than just learning the movements by explaining the “whats” and “hows” of flamenco dance. Flamenco’s history is vast and its musicality is complex. Knowledge and understanding of both is needed for a deeper interpretation of the dance style. In part II of this two part series we will offer a brief overview/review of the history and background of flamenco, the “why,” and continue explaining the theory of some of the most commonly performed palos (rhythms) to include its background, compas (musical measure), cante (song), and choreographic structure (the “how”). Minimum age 15. 4 sessions.
