Beginning Quilt Class Row by Row

This is a skill building class, you will learn a different technique with each row as you piece this 42 x 54 inch baby quilt or couch throw.
Quick piecing techniques for 4 patches, Y seams, partial seam assembly, 3 kinds of applique, Flying geese, Kaleidoscope blocks, Square in a square, Windmills, and complex assembly. You will also learn rotary cutting techniques.
- This is a full day class, we will take a short break for lunch.
You are welcome to bring your lunch, a refrigerator and microwave is available for your use.
- You will need the following for this class:
- 12 woven cotton (not knit) fat quarters with a variety of colors Light, Medium and Dark, including one yellow, one green, and one blue, that are work well together.
- 3/4 yard of cotton fabric at least 44 inches wide for the border and binding
- 3/4 yard of a different fabric for the inner border
- 1 1/2 yard of fabric to line or back the quilt
- Sewing thread (100% cotton) in white, neutral gray or tan. Gray or tan will blend with most colors.
- Fabric scissors
- Straight pins (long ones to grab easy and pull)
- #2 pencil for marking fabric and taking notes
- Your own sewing machine (or you can use one of ours - contact instructor in advance if you need to use ours)
- Rotary cutters and mats and rulers are available in the quilt room or you may bring your own if you have them
