Learn a different quilting technique with each row as you piece this 42"x54" inch baby or couch quilt.  This class will meet on Saturdays in February, from 9am - 4pm in room 2. Make sure to bring a lunch! Open to ages 12 & up!

    • You may use fabric from your stash, but you will need the following:
      12 Fat Quarters, (woven cotton, not knit) in a variety of colors. (Light, medium and Dark). Including one yellow, green and blue fabric that are happy together.
      3/4 yard of cotton fabric at least 44" wide for the boarder and binding
      3/4 yard of a different fabric for the inner boarder
      1-1/2 yard of fabric to line or back the quilt
      Sewing thread. 100% cotton in white, neutral gray or tan. Gray or tan will blend with most colors.
      Fabric scissors
      Straight pins
      No. 2 pencil
      Sewing machine (we have some available)
Nancy Gibson

Nancy Gibson has been a very accomplished member of the League since 1996.  She holds a BS in Commercial Art and Industrial Technology with an emphasis in Graphic Science.  She has continued her education and practice with Stained Glass, developed and taught Beginning Stained Glass and 3D Stained Glass. She has taught at the League since 1998.  The stained glass windows in the Mineola League of the Arts were designed by Nance and made with the help of former students and League members. 

Nancy is a self-taught calligrapher.  She taught calligraphy as Continuing Education classes at ETSU in the 1980's and early 90's. Additionally she taught at the University for Youth program instructing in calligraphy and clay using bread dough form of clay.  Nancy has instructed calligraphy classes several times over the years at the League. 

Nancy has held various positions in the League during her tenure including, Fiber Guild Coordinator, Quilt Guild Coordinator and President.  In addition to those mentioned, she has also taught a variety of classes, many that she developed, including Beginning Quilt Class, a Crazy Quilt class, a Tumbling Blocks class, a Fussy Cat class, a Stack and Whack quilt class, a felted wool Santa Clause class, a half square triangle class, a fabric ink class, to mention a few. 

Nancy has won many ribbons at the State Fair of Texas and East Texas State Fair, Quilt Shows in Canton, Paris, Gilmer, Sulphur Springs, Mineola, and Tyler for her Quilting, Stained Glass, Calligraphy, Paper Mache, and Cloth Dolls, etc.
