Cross-Cultural Support for Grieving Children and Families

Supporting someone as they struggle through loss and grief can be incredibly difficult, especially when the bereaved individual is a child. Through this interactive and informative workshop, participants will learn what children understand about death at different ages and what their grief might look like. We will also cover practical information about supportive things to say and do for children and adults who are grieving.

Please note: This workshop may be emotionally triggering for some. If you have recently experienced a loss, you may want to consider attending an alternative workshop.

Delisi, Teresa
Teresa Delisi

Teresa DeLisi has worked in the early childhood education field for over 30 years. Her love of children led her to her first job as a preschool teacher. Within time, she became a director of a campus-based laboratory school in Montgomery County, Md. During that time, she served as an adjunct faculty teaching child development and other related courses. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University and a Master’s of Science in the field of Human Sciences from Hood College. Throughout the years, she has served on the Montgomery County Commission on Child Care and also sat on the board of the National Coalition for Campus Child Care.

Her love of supporting teachers, families and children have led her to her current roles as an early childhood trainer and coach to Montgomery County programs. Currently, she serves as a Maryland State Department of Education accreditation validator to neighboring counties. When she is not working, she loves hiking, gardening and spending time with her family and four fur babies.
