What is the relationship between the nonphysical mind and the physical brain? This is a branch of philosophy that has been seriously debated for over 400 years. In these four sessions, we will look at the arguments in favor of each of the main viewpoints on this question, ranging from the mind and brain both exist and are separable, to the mind is merely a result of brain function to the mind is all that we can confidently say exists.

  • Dr. Bill Blaker is a retired biology professor who has done research and taught about the brain for over 35 years.  He has published over 20 research articles on the topic and has received teaching awards from Virginia Tech and Furman University.
