The Interrelationship Among History, Spirituality, and Science

The relationship among history, spirituality and science is complex. They are concerned with how scientific discoveries were made within a societal and spiritual framework. Together we will examine how science seeks to explain the natural world by examining empirical evidence. One will see that spirituality and science are not mutually exclusive, but can complement each other and even be integrated.
Dr. Spalla is from southwestern Pennsylvania where he taught in the public schools for many years. He received a Phd from the University of Pittsburgh in history and education. His M.A. is in Early Modern European history from Duquesne University. His academic interests are analyzing the interrelationships among history, spirituality
and science and the role of motivational theory as it applies to Social Studies education.
