Idioms are the spice of life! Idioms are words or phrases that have a different meaning than the literal meaning of the words. The stories behind many words are funny, fascinating and just downright weird. Food expressions are especially colorful and descriptive. Some food word origins are wonderfully quirky and are based on historical events, legends, important figures and habits. Many English expressions are so unusual that it is impossible to guess where on earth they originated from — unless you know the history.
