Our Primitive Brain

Social Science/History | Registration opens 1/5/2026 12:00 AM MST (Arizona)

Have you ever smelled apple pie cooking, and immediately remembered the happy childhood times of going to your grandmother's house? If you had an experience like this, then it was your primitive brain at work. In this course, we will look at the locations and functions of brain regions that we share with many primitive creatures, down to fish and reptiles. The four sessions will cover brain evolution, memory, emotions, and the sense of smell.
