What is the relationship between the nonphysical mind and the physical brain? This is a branch of philosophy that has been seriously debated for over 400 years. In these four sessions, we will look at the arguments in favor of each of the main viewpoints on this question, ranging from the mind and brain both exist and are separable, to the mind is merely a result of brain function, to the mind is all that we can confidently say exists.

Bill Blaker

Bill Blaker is retired after a 45-year career as a research scientist and university professor. He has received teaching awards from Virginia Tech and Furman University. He has taught university courses in general science, biology, anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, neuroscience, English composition, statistics, and philosophy. Now, he teaches anything he finds interesting.
