Here I Stand - Martin Luther

Social Science/History | Registration opens 1/5/2026 12:00 AM MST (Arizona)

This presentation focuses on Martin Luther, aiming to introduce the life, times, and spiritual teachings of Martin Luther, as well as the key ideas of the Protestant Reformation.  We will examine Luther's basic theological writings and examine the question, "Was Martin Luther justified in breaking away from the Roman Catholic Church?" If Martin Luther were alive today, what would be his position on Roman Catholicism?" During the presentation, one is to examine the question of whether Luther was right or wrong in his ideas towards the Roman Catholic Church. What was the position of the Catholic Church and secular authorities towards Luther?  Why was Luther so successful while other reformers, such as John Wycliff and Jan Hus, failed in igniting the Reformation?
