Superstitions are an inherent part of any culture that helps us avoid bad things and do what may be good for us. Although most of us realize that these myths and old wives’ tales are not true, yet we keep practicing weird superstitions. Superstitions are often considered out of place in modern times influenced by modern science and its notions of what is rational or irrational, surviving as remnants of older popular beliefs and practices.  Our world is filled with superstitions, lore, and rumors about everything, including food.  There are dozens of culinary superstitions and many of these more unusual superstitions still have fans and followers. Whether or not you choose to believe them is up to you.
