Reducing Poverty & Inequality
Social Science/History | Registration opens 1/5/2026 12:00 AM MST (Arizona)
There's no justification for the top 1% controlling more wealth than the entire middle 60% of income earners. History shows that such obscene inequality not only creates political dysfunction but also undermines confidence in the economic system leading to revolution. Nobody should have to live under the control of others while simultaneously deprived of their fair share of the wealth they helped produce. Please join us as we explore how other countries have eradicated poverty and inequality and how we might implement similar policies in order to advance the common good.

Newman, David - Has worn many hats: gardener, pool cleaner, grocery bagger, tomato lug stacker, tutor, teachers' aide, electrician, and quality control technician, but never a butcher, baker, or candlestick maker. He then found his true calling as a software developer, allowing him to become simultaneously self-employed and semi-retired at 27. He filled his semi-retired free time by volunteering at homeless shelters, libraries, rehabs, non-profit organizations, and food banks. Although a native Californian, he moved to AZ in 2012 to assist in caring for his disabled mother.
