Battle of the Bulge

Social Science/History | Registration opens 1/5/2026 12:00 AM MST (Arizona)

Curious about the heroism behind the 101st Airborne, as seen in “Band of Brothers,” and why the Battle of the Bulge stands as America’s costliest fight in World War II? Join us for an interactive seminar as we honor the grit and sacrifice of veterans who faced the surprise German offensive from December 16, 1944, until its final closure on January 25, 1945
We’ll uncover how leaders like Eisenhower and Patton guided troops through bitter cold, confusion, and overwhelming odds, extracting lasting lessons in teamwork, resilience, and decisive leadership. Discover pivotal decisions, stories of ordinary soldiers’ courage, and how the Allies turned setbacks into victory—the same qualities we value today in crisis leadership. This session connects battlefield sacrifice to lessons that still inspire: clear communication, adaptability, and unity in adversity.

Dr. Jim Morgan

Morgan, Jim - I have a MA degree in Military History, which fulfills a lifetime goal of having a deep understanding of military history and strategy. I find the courses at Citadel exciting, starting with historiography. I am a Vietnam Air Force combat veteran with two tours and 158 combat missions in Vietnam.   Professionally, I help adult learners master analytical thinking and exploratory research skills that can pragmatically be applied in business, a scholar-practitioner approach. At the same time, graduate school students often look for the easiest and fastest way to progress in academia. Playing to the increasing proportion of digitally native millennials and Gen Z business professionals enrolling in graduate programs, digitally native approaches are needed to grab and keep their attention. My professional consulting experience in strategy, business model design, and strategic planning spans 40 years, beginning with Price Waterhouse Coopers, and covers 200+ companies in 21 countries, from Silicon Valley in CA to specialty pharma in Tokyo.
