Our Experiences with Weather

Virtual /Instructor Zoom | Registration opens 3/18/2026 12:00 AM MST (Arizona)

Our Experiences with Weather: We’ve all had a wide range of experiences with weather, and we’ve all had some experiences that are especially memorable. We find joy in certain kinds of weather; we complain about certain kinds of weather. Our responses to weather vary by where we live. For example, in Phoenix it’s remarkable what an inch of precipitation can do to disrupt our lives and occupy our conversations. In contrast, Hilo, Hawaii, averages 126.6 inches of precipitation each year—more than ten inches a month. And then there is temperature. For example, many people in northern states can’t fathom how Arizonans can live in a place with so much extreme heat. In return, some residents of Phoenix can’t fathom living in a place that see sub-zero temperatures. In this workshop, we will talk about our experiences with weather; we will also write briefly and share what we have written.
